# VJ Workshop with RESOLUME
Resolume Arena is a professional VJ software and media server that is internationally used for theater performances, club light & festival stage design, projection mapping on complex architecture and light installations. In this beginner friendly workshop you’ll get a basic overview of Resolume Arena and how to use it as a VJ tool in a club setting. We’ll learn about:
- Navigating the UI
- Playing and layering of videos
- Using MIDI to control elements
- Audio-reactive effect chains
- Simple projection mapping
If we have enough time at the end of the workshop we can briefly talk about: Node based generative art using Resolume Wire Tips & tricks to survive 6h+ of VJing Creating your own VJ loops If you’re curious about getting started with Resolume and want a friendly place to explore the basics and ask questions, this workshop is for you.
What you need Fairly good (gaming) laptop with at least: Windows 8.1 / MacOS 10.15 Catalina Graphics card (Nvidia / AMD / Iris Pro) or Apple Silicon (aka M1, M2, M3) 8Gb RAM 5Gb of free disk space

About the lecturer Jens Schindel is a digital artist and software developer living in Den Haag who bridges creativity and technology. His focus is on audio-reactive media, creative coding, visual performances and shader programming. He studied Medieninformatik in Tübingen, where he also began performing as a VJ at Schlachthaus Tübingen. Since then, his live shows and interactive installations have taken him to venues and festivals across Europe, North Africa, and Asia.
